Challenge Accepted!
Last year I turned 50 and decided I needed a challenge that would really test me.
I chose the Simpson Desert Bike Challenge 2025!
This is a 5 day event cycling a bicycle 500km through the hot and sandy, dune filled Simpson Desert!
By signing up to this mad event I also get the opportunity to raise much needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
If you have travelled through or over Australia, you will have a very good understanding of the immense distances and remoteness of much of the country. You will also understand that fast and reliable dedicated medical air ambulances are the only way to get life saving emergency support to anyone living or travelling through outback Australia.
Most people you talk to in the rural towns of Australia have either been directly assisted by RFDS or know first hand of someone who has. The RFDS is an essential emergency service for people all over Australia.
In support of my crazy bicycle adventure, please help keep the Flying Doctor flying! Your donations will ensure that the Royal Flying Doctor Service can respond at a moment’s notice for people living, working, and travelling in remote, rural and regional areas in Australia.
Last year alone, the RFDS reached more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary health care. That’s one person every two minutes!
The Flying Doctor is always on call to help and save lives, and that’s why I’m asking you to chip in to and help the RFDS to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.

My impact
So far, my fundraising could help…
Provide a full range of life saving medication such as sedatives, pain relief and antibiotics so the Flying Doctor can be ready for 138 emergency situations.
Send 71 life saving-medical chest to remote communities
Provide one on one counselling to 44 outback Australians during a difficult time
Purchase 29 pieces of equipment that could include ventilators, defibrillators and infusion pumps which are used on board flights
