Running Perth Half Marathon to keep the Flying Doctor flying

I’m raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service so they can continue to respond at a moment’s notice to people living, working and travelling in remote, rural and regional Australia.

Not only is it an incredible service, but I’ve seen firsthand just how vital their work can be.

Back in May, my boyfriend and I moved to the Australian outback to work on a remote cattle station. Being around 14 hours from Adelaide, we really couldn’t have been much further from civilisation and was always a little unnerving should a medical emergency occur.

Unfortunately, that became a reality when a serious accident at work left my boyfriend with a severely broken leg, requiring multiple surgeries and a long road of rehabilitation.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service was able to reach him and get him to the specialist care he urgently needed. Without this, he may almost certainly have lost his leg.

While he won’t be able to run for quite some time, I’ve decided to put my working limbs to good use and run the Perth Half Marathon to raise money for RFDS and show my gratitude for the service.

I’ll be running 21.1 km on 11 October, and any donation, big or small, would mean so much and help keep the Flying Doctor flying.
