Three generations of the Barratt family - Let’s soar together! Help us raise funds to keep the Flying Doctor flying.
In September, three generations of our family—one grandfather, Martin 70, (who should probably know better), one son, Danny 42 (who definitely should know better), and two grandsons, Mack 14 and Hayden 13, (who are just young enough to think this is a great idea)—will be attempting to walk 322km across the Simpson Desert, from Purnie Bore to Big Red.
Yes… voluntarily.
There’ll be sand. A lot of sand.
There’ll be heat. A lot of heat and flies and a lot of flies.
And at some point, there’ll almost certainly be some serious questioning of
life choices.
We will be supported by Grandma, Maureen and daughter in law/wife/mother, Ros driving 2 support vehicles.
We’re doing it all to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service—because if you’re going to be stubborn enough to walk across the middle of nowhere, it’s reassuring to know the Flying Doctors are out there saving lives every day in remote Australia.

My impact
So far, my fundraising could help…
Provide a full range of life saving medication such as sedatives, pain relief and antibiotics so the Flying Doctor can be ready for 92 emergency situations.
Send 47 life saving-medical chest to remote communities
Provide one on one counselling to 29 outback Australians during a difficult time
Purchase 19 pieces of equipment that could include ventilators, defibrillators and infusion pumps which are used on board flights
